823,034 pilgrims from various parts of the world arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by Monday 19 January 2004 for this year’s Hajj, according to Director of the Hajj Ministry branch in Makkah Eng. Abdul-Fattah bin Abdul-Shakour.
Eng. Abdul-Fattah bin Abdul-Shakour said that 558,560 pilgrims had arrived in Makkah and 264,474 in Madinah. He noted that 7,030 buses equipped with facilities have been deployed for transportation of pilgrims from Jeddah to Makkah, Madinah to Makkah and Jeddah to Madinah. 3,490,043 cubic-litres of Zamzam water have been distributed among pilgrims in Makkah.
Abdul-Shakour said that 10,692 pilgrims had arrived via the Islamic Port of Jeddah by Monday, 601,142 had arrived via King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah, and 158,192 had arrived via Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz Airport, Madinah.
