Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, on Tuesday received members of the Saudi Friends League (SFL), led by former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo, at Al-Yamamah Palace.
At the outset of the meeting, Crown Prince Abdullah welcomed his guests and wished them an enjoyable stay in the Kingdom.
Speaking on behalf of his delegation, Bill Clinton said that he was accompanied by a group of Americans who came to build friendship and understanding between the Saudi Arabian and American peoples. He said that his delegation includes members who belong to different religions and social classes: They are interested in peace among the peoples of the world, he said.
Another member of the SFL said that he had been exposed to misleading and incorrect information about the Kingdom before his visit.
The former President of Mexico, Ernesto Zedillo, spoke about the Kingdom’s support for his country in 1998 to overcome an acute economic crisis caused by a rapid decline in oil prices at the time.
