The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr Hashim bin Abdullah Yamani, noted the recent remarks of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard, which stressed the continuation of reforms begun several years ago, aimed at adapting to changes in the international economy.
Addressing the second session of the Jeddah Economic Forum, entitled “Building a Base for Development of Sustainable Resources in the Kingdom,” Dr Yamani noted that the Kingdom’s efforts to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) are proceeding successfully. He said that there is no fixed date set for the Kingdom’s accession.
The Minister of Economy and Planning, Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Qusaibi, emphasized the necessity of promoting the private sector and expanding its contribution to encompass various economic, production and service sectors, including electricity, gas, air transportation, health and education.
