Houston, 13th December 2003

Prince Bandar Bin Sultan, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States of America, on Friday stressed the important role of the Kingdom in the international fight to combat terrorism.

In a speech during a party hosted by Houston Council For International Affairs and the James Baker Institute for Public Policy, Prince Bandar warned that the terrorists aim to destroy the strong ties between the Kingdom and the United States of America. He praised the effective cooperation between the two countries to confront and eliminate this phenomenon.

In his speech, Prince Bandar pointed out political, economic and social reform programs and the role of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz to promote these programmes to achieve progress and development. He stressed that the reforms will conform with the Kingdom’s values and the preservation of its heritage and culture. Prince Bandar also spoke about the Kingdom’s contributions in support of programmes to rebuild Iraq.

Council Vice-President Robert Clark and Director of the Institute Edward Georgian also spoke on the occasion. They praised the historical relations between the Kingdom and the U.S., noting that the Kingdom stood by the United States during the Cold War period, when the U.S. had few strong allies.
