The Saudi delegation, led by Dr Salih bin Mohammed Al-Namlah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information for External Information, took part in the extraordinary meeting of Arab Culture Ministers held in Cairo today.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the meeting, Al-Namlah said that the meeting focused on a plan for participation of Arab delegates in the Frankfurt International Book Fair in 2004. He said that the event would provide a rare opportunity for Arab culture to reflect a brighter image of the humanitarian and civilizational aspects of the Arab and Islamic world in Europe.
Al-Namlah described the event as reflecting Arab cultural endeavour. He noted that the Kingdom was the first to pay its share, worth $420,000, for the cost of the exhibition, which is estimated at a total of $3million. He said that Saudi Arabia has presented its views on how to make effective Arab participation at the fair.
