The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia denounced Israeli efforts to thwart all international initiatives to establish peace in the in the Middle East, and accused Israel of practising terrorism in flagrant violation of international resolutions.
Fawzi Abdul-Majeed Shubokshi, the Kingdom’s representative at the United Nations, said that the continual Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people evidences the determination of the Israeli government to block any effort to achieve a just, comprehensive peace settlement.
In an address to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, Shubokshi urged the international community to apply pressure on Israel to comply with UN resolutions.
He said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had spared no effort in supporting all efforts that aim to establish a just, peaceful settlement of the Palestinian problem.
Shubokshi pointed out that the report prepared by the Committee for Inalienable Palestinian Rights had illustrated the tragic situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. “The Israeli government has been practicing terrorism against the Palestinian people in flagrant violation of resolutions of the international legitimacy. Israel wrongly thinks that it can silence the Arab voice by military force, and block all Arab and international efforts to realise a just and comprehensive settlement that paves the way for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied Arab territories,” he said.
Speaking about the so-called “security wall”, Shubokshi said its construction is aimed at taking over more Palestinian territories and preventing the establishment of the proposed Palestinian state. He stressed the importance of exerting intensified efforts towards settlement of the Palestinian problem and realisation of peace and security for all countries of the region.
