08Nov2003 Prince Sultan stresses importance of water resources

Jeddah, 8th November 2003

Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defence and Aviation and Inspector General, reiterated the importance of formulating a national strategy for management of water resources in the Kingdom.

In a statement published by the magazine “Environment and Development”, issued by the Administration of Meteorology and Environmental Protection, Prince Sultan said that Saudi officials and citizens are concerned to preserve water resources in the Kingdom, which requires a national strategy. He noted that the establishment of a separate ministry for water reflects the significance accorded to this sphere by Saudi authorities.

Prince Sultan said that the Administration of Meteorology and Environmental Protection established a national strategy for water resource management in cooperation with the Ministry of Water and Electricity (now the Ministry of Water) and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs.
