04Nov2003 Crown Prince approves SR3.7 billion for youth training projects

Riyadh, 4th November 2003

Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Commander of the National Guard on Monday evening chaired a meeting of the Committee for Training and Employment of Saudi Youth, at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.

The meeting was attended by Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the Second Deputy Premier, Minister of Defence and Aviation, who is also Chairman of the Committee.

In a statement following the meeting, Governor of the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT), Dr Ali bin Nasser Al-Ghifais, said that the Crown Prince approved the recommendations proposed by the Committee for the allocation of funds to establish 20 new technology colleges that can host 60,000 secondary school graduates, at a total cost of SR1.9 billion, and 39 technology training institutes that can host 40,000 trainees, at a total cost of SR1.543 billion.

The Crown Prince also gave directives for the implementation of a military vocational training project with the cooperation of the military sector of the National Guard, the Ministry of Defence and Aviation, the Interior Ministry and GOTEVOT, and for the allocation of a budget of SR270 million for the project. 10,000 trainees will be accepted annually on the project.

The total funding granted for the youth training projects will be SR3.713 billion.
