03Nov2003 Shoura Council meeting approves Saudi-U.S. commercial agreement

Riyadh, 3rd November 2003

The Shoura Council today held its 43rd meeting under the chairmanship of Sheikh Dr Salih bin Abdullah bin Homaid.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Council’s Secretary General, Dr Homoud bin Abdul Aziz Al-Badr said that the Council approved the Commercial and Investment Cooperation Agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.

He said that the agreement calls for the formation of a Saudi-U.S. Commercial and Investment Council, aiming to boost bilateral trade in commodity and service sectors. He noted that the agreement would facilitate communication between private sectors of the two countries, and would enhance the Kingdom’s prospects of achieving accession to the World Trade Organization. The Council also reviewed the annual report of the General Auditing Bureau for two fiscal years.
