26Jan2003 SAA to transport 893,702 pilgrims from abroad

Jiddah, 26th January 2003

Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) will carry 893,702 pilgrims during this year’s Hajj season, from 70 international airports. SAA will also transport pilgrims from various regions within the Kingdom, aboard 1, 754 flights.

For the first time in the history of SAA, the Airline will transport pilgrims from new international airports such as Hyderabad in India, Sari and Tebriz in Iran, Manchester and Birmingham in Britain, and Lyon, Marseille and Nice in France.

SAA plans to transport a total of 372,120 pilgrims from Asia. They will be transported from the international airports of Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Manila, Singapore, Colombo, Dhaka, Jakarta, Bombay, Madras, New Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, Sourbaya, Ahmedabad, Batam and Hyderabad.

In the Middle East and the Gulf region, SAA will transport 195,434 pilgrims from the international airports of Damascus, Amman, Kuwait, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Bahrain, Doha, Muscat, Beirut, Sanaa, Tehran, Asfahan, Al-Ein, Mash’had, Sari, Tebriz, Kerman and Shiraz.

In Africa it is planning to transport 124,148 pilgrims from Addis Ababa, Asmara, Cairo, Khartoum,, Nairobi, Tunis, Johannesburg, Casablanca, Algiers, Agadir, Rabat, Marrakech, Fez, Tangier and Alexandria.

In Europe and America, SAA is planning to transport 141,872 pilgrims from the international airports of New York, Washington, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Istanbul, London, Geneva, Milan, Athens, Ankara, Azmir, Edina, Lillie, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Manchester and Birmingham.
