13Jan2003 New headquarters for Council of Arab Interior Ministers

Tunis, 13th January 2003

Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz, Saudi Minister of The Interior and Honorary President of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, and Tunisian Minister of The Interior and Local Development, Hedi M’henni, today co-opened new headquarters for the Secretariat General of the Arab Interior Ministers’ Council in the Tunisian capital, Tunis. The opening ceremony was attended by Arab Interior Ministers who are attending a conference here later today.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, was awarded a memorial gift in recognition of his support for the construction of the facility. Al-Thani paid for the furniture of the new building. Sheikh Hamad bin Nassir bin Jassim Al-Thani, Qatar’s Minister of State for Interior Affairs, received the gift on behalf of the Emir.

Prince Naif was awarded a similar gift in recognition of his support for establishment of the building. Prince Naif paid for the land on which the new offices for the Secretariat General were built. Secretary General of the Council, Dr Mohammed bin Ali Kuman, handed the gift to Prince Naif. Prince Naif also received a memorial shield in recognition of his significant role to enhance the Council of Arab Interior Ministers. The Ministers and senior officials of the Council were also honoured at the ceremony.
